Splendora ISD invites community members to make a lasting difference in the lives of local students through the BRIDGE Mentoring Program — a new initiative that connects caring adults with students in meaningful, structured mentoring relationships.
The BRIDGE Mentoring Program focuses on building strong bridges between school and community by promoting:
? Academic growth
?? Social-emotional development
?? Leadership skills
?? Career readiness
“Every student deserves someone who believes in them,” said Katie Key, Education Foundation Coordinator. “Through BRIDGE, we’re allowing our community to be that person — to listen, to guide, and to help our students reach their full potential.”
Student Development: Provide students with positive role models who support academic success, behavior, and goal-setting.
Community Engagement: Strengthen partnerships between schools and the community.
College & Career Readiness: Expose students to diverse career paths and essential life skills.
Leadership & Character: Encourage responsible decision-making, communication, and resilience.
Commitment: 30 minutes twice a month (1st & 3rd Tuesday) during student lunch or recess
Orientation: All mentors attend a training session covering child safety, district policies, confidentiality, and cultural competency
Workshops: Ongoing opportunities for mentors to grow in youth development and mentoring strategies
Academic Support: Tutoring, study skills, homework help
Life Skills: Time management, financial literacy, communication, conflict resolution
Social-Emotional Learning: Building confidence, empathy, and problem-solving
Enrichment: Service projects, book studies, STEM activities, and the arts
